Queer Up North artist residency is a new initiative and collaboration between The Throbbing Rose Collective and the White Bear Artist Residency in Temagami, Ontario. To be held in the Northland Paradise Lodge, on the shore of Snake Island Lake in Temagami, Queer Up North offers fifteen LGBTQI2+ artists-in-residence the opportunity to work, interact and collaborate in the forests and lakes of northern Ontario. Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity – Hide Tanning and Parfleche Residency
This three-week visual arts residency focuses on hide scraping, bone tool making, and working with parfleche. Visual artists who work with hide and parfleche will learn more about how scrape a hide, and work with parfleche with the support of faculty, elders, and knowledge keepers. Participants are invited to engage with faculty, community and peers while having self-directed studio time in Glyde Hall. Participants will come together with the community and have the opportunity for one-on-one sessions. The participants and faculty will have a chance to share their works in progress in Open Studios.

The Mountain Writers Intensive is a three-week residency for nine writers working in any genre (fiction, nonfiction, journalism, or poetry), on mountain narratives, environmental journalism, stories of adventure, or projects with a theme of the human relationship to landscape. In the niche genre of Mountain Literature, the journey of self-exploration and the psychology of extreme endeavours are as much a focus as the physical accomplishments involved, and there is a strong emphasis on literary quality and development of narrative.

Otherwise known as “Berlinale”, this German festival is considered to be the largest publicly attended film festival in the world, with over 300,000 tickets sold annually. The maximum length varies from category to category: the maximum length for short films in the “Berlinale Shorts” competition is 30 minutes, for “Generation” it is 20 minutes, for the “Perspektive Deutsches Kino”, which is german films only, the max is 45 minutes.
