CALL FOR ARTISTS TO PARTICIPATE

COASTLINE: Introduction and development of artificial intelligence (AI) and Non-Fungible Tokens for Indigenous visual artists and moving image-makers
Harbour Collective seeks applications from Indigenous artists working in 2D, 3D visual art, digital art, moving image, or audio forms to participate in a series of workshops for Coastline: an introduction to AI learning as an art tool and NFT production.
The Coastline series consists of two two-hour online sessions in May and June; and onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, from August 2nd to 9th, 2022. The online workshop series will include an introduction to and history of artificial intelligence and NFTs, along with the history of NFTs. While onsite in Ottawa, participants will use tools to create their own NFT artworks.
- There will be six artists selected to participate.
- Each artist will be granted $2000 to participate in the online learning and the onsite experience.
- Selected participants will be provided with travel, accommodations, and a daily per diem while in Ottawa, Ontario.
- Participants will also engage in a feedback session for the project.
Timeline:
- Deadline: Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, at 11:59 PM (Pacific)
- Results: Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at 11:59 PM (Pacific)
- Selected artists will receive the workshop dates.
Eligibility criteria:
- The proposed workshop series should allow the artist to gain the knowledge and skills to:
- Engage in the technology, review the history of artificial intelligence and its uses in art and art creations, and produce their own NFT artworks
- No prior programming, AI or NFT experience is needed. Comfort making art on computers is preferred
- The artist must be Canadian or a permanent resident of Canada
- Harbour Collective encourages submissions from applicants with three to five years of exhibition, presentation, and screening history
- Harbour Collective encourages submissions from Indigenous, Black, and other racialized artists

Your proposal must include:
- A short introduction to you and your art practice (1-page maximum)
- Artist CV (maximum 3-pages)
- Artist bio (150 words max)
- Relevant visual or audio support material, with a list of contents (links embedded within a Word document preferred)
