Denise Bolduc is an accomplished director, producer, cultural connector, and creator who is driven to transform perspectives and activate change. For over 30 years, her career represents countless contributions and connections with numerous celebrated artists, thinkers, communities, and leading cultural institutions nationally and globally. Denise intentionally curates for community connectivity and has led a multitude of largescale arts initiatives elevating the careers of numerous Indigenous creatives and leaders. Notable credits: Tributaries, Biizinden!!, Built on Genocide, Kisageetin: A Cabaret, Thunderbird Marketplace, Planet IndigenUS, Beyond 150 Film Festival, Global First Nations Exchange, Feasting Relationships, and the UNcommon Wealth series. In addition to programming, her film Zaagidiwin has screened globally, and she is the co-editor and writer of the award-winning anthology, Indigenous Toronto: The Stories We Carry.
Denise is Ojibwe-Anishinaabe and French, born and raised in the Lake Superior | Robinson Huron Treaty Territory, and is a member of the Batchewana First Nation with familial ties in Garden River First Nation.

Michelle McGeough (Cree Métis/Settler) completed her PhD in Indigenous art history at the University of New Mexico. Prior to returning to school for her advanced degree, she taught Museum Studies at the Institute of American Indian Art and was the Assistant curator at the Wheelwright Museum of the Native American Indian in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dr. McGeough has a Master’s degree from Carleton University as well as a BFA from Emily Carr and an undergraduate degree from the Institute of American Indian Art. She also has a B.Ed. degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. McGeough currently teaches at Concordia University in the Art History department. Michelle is originally from Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Beaver Hills House)in the treaty six region of currently known as Canada.

Congratulations goes to one of Canada Council’s 2024 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts, Marjorie Beaucage! Congratulations!
Marjorie Beaucage is a Two-Spirit Métis Auntie, filmmaker, ‘art-ivist’ and educator, a land protector and a water walker. Born in Vassar, Manitoba, to a large Métis family, Marjorie has dedicated her life’s work to creating social change, working to give people the tools for creating possibilities and right relations. For Marjorie, story is medicine. Her more than 40 films hold space for difference, giving voice to those often unheard in mainstream stories. Her last project, Reducing the Harms of Colonialism, addressed harm reduction—six portraits of people who made it through. Her recent book, leave some for the birds, documents her own movements for justice.

Rising out of bed is prompted by her eight-year-old son and motivated by a steaming cappuccino. This former Art Historian starts each day with curiosity, knowing she will get to do really cool stuff.
Comparable to taking delicious forkfuls of a decadent chocolate layer cake with flavourful frosting, our conversation uncovered one fascinating topic after another. I strayed from my initial questions and felt like Alice in Wonderland falling through the rabbit hole. Without a doubt, this shero unapologetically moves mountains with quiet determination.

April Britski (she/her) is the Executive Director of CARFAC, Canada’s national association for visual artists. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a minor in Studio Art from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master of Arts in Canadian Art History from Carleton University. April has worked and volunteered as an arts administrator for over 25 years, and joined the staff of CARFAC National in 2005. Her primary responsibility at CARFAC is the development and implementation of organizational policies and strategies related to artists’ economic and legal rights. She is actively involved in the research, development, and coordination of advocacy efforts, including CARFAC’s Artist’s Resale Right campaign. She assists with negotiating collective agreements for visual and media artists under the Status of the Artist Act, as well as other national voluntary agreements with presenters. April is a co-founder of Artists’ Legal Services Ottawa and the Visual Arts Alliance, and she has served on several boards and committees of cultural policy and artist-run organizations in Canada and abroad. Originally from Saskatchewan, April currently resides on the traditional unceded territories of the Central and Coast Salish Peoples including the Kwikwetlem, Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

FirstVoices celebrates its 20th anniversary on International Mother Language Day with the announcement of a new site design and added features. FirstVoices.com provides an online space for B.C. First Nations to share and promote their language, oral history and linguistic history. Importantly, members retain ownership of content created by them for use on their community site. The goal of FirstVoices.com is to help Indigenous languages succeed with state-of-the-art hardware, software, and technical support for their communities.

Resource Assistance for Youth (RAY) – Transitional Housing Case Manager
The Case Manager will utilize their networks and experience to support youth in the program, eventually assisting them with the transition into their own independent living. Using a Housing First model, the Case Manager performs daily home visits to youth in the program, facilitates Life Maps and goal setting with youth, teaches Life Skills workshops with other RaY staff, advocates on behalf of the youth on a case-by-case basis with a variety of systems, and acts as an overall mentor to youth. The Case Manager is responsible for assisting with and maintaining program statistics and filing monthly and annual reports in cooperation with the Transitional Housing Manager.

AARK Archipelago Art Residency in Korpo – Island seaside in dialog with the forrest lake silence
Our location is right by the sea by the ferry operating between Korppoo and Nauvo islands, S/W Finland in Turku archipelago. Due to our location in the middle of nature, with seaside, forrest and a lake, artists can fully focus on their own thematics, contemplation and artistic researh, experiments. At the former ferry staff family house has 6 apartments. It is today an artist residency with airy separate studio apartments for each artist. With own privacy, kitchen, shower / wc including yard and a beach less than 100m. AARK is run by an artist family. We are not around every day so independency is needed from our residency artists. We encouridge a dialog inside the residency and with the surrounding archipelago.
