Welcome to your mid-summer edition of the Harbour Collective newsletter!
We’re arriving back in your inboxes to introduce you to one of the artists creating a special piece of work for our collaborative project with PIX Collective, La Leun Waashisho. Combining the old and new, five artists will be inviting viewers to step into their worlds and explore their heritage through interactive augmented and virtual reality artworks on Indigenous moon stories.
We’ve also got the usual round up below of news, events, job openings, training opportunities and more. There are still plenty of summer festivals on the horizon, so take in the sun soaked creativity of the season.

Featured Artist: Feather Miigwan
Feather Miigwan is a transdiciplinary digital Anishinaabekwe artist/curator/storyteller from the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians. After attending Parsons University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago she finished her BFA at the Institute of American Indian Arts where she also holds a certificate in Indigenous Art History. Her work embodies out of body experiences using immersive and interactive technology; pushing pixels to push ourselves. She is interested in how digitally augmented and virtual spaces can be used as an approach to digital archeology and repatriation by making cultural experiences, places, and objects more accessible while also respecting their physical space. She is especially interested in providing access to places and spaces of those whose cultures have been historically attacked and displaced or dismantled. It is through immersive audio visual installations and performances that Feather draws the viewer into her worlds, forcing you to get closer, to see the story from her point of view, to feel what she feels…in hopes of understanding and connecting all of us no matter where we are in time and space.
